What are we looking for
We are looking for a talented and experienced Data Engineer to join the WSF Odds tech team and help us build and improve our data infrastructure, contributing to our journey of redefining sports analytics.
You will collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and build a data infrastructure that is scalable, performant and easily accessible.
You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the day to day development and maintenance of our existing products in a full Agile environment.
This is a remote working opportunity.
Key responsibilities
You will have the chance to be an active participant in product discussions and decisions in a fast-paced and quickly growing environment in which you will be responsible to:
- Design, implement and maintain a scalable and robust data architecture.
- Develop and maintain data pipelines for efficient data extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) processes.
- Integrate data from various sources such as external APIs and third-party data providers.
- Ensure data integrity, reliability, and performance in data processing workflows.
- Administer and optimize databases for performance and reliability.
- Work alongside the product team to implement and maintain new features for our existing products.

Key qualifications
Must have
- 3+ years of proven experience in data engineering, ETL processes, and database management.
- 3+ years of proven experience with Python.
- Working experience with Java/Spring.
- Working experience with ETL orchestration tools such (eg. Prefect, Airflow)
- Familiarity with cloud-based services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) to deploy and manage data infrastructure.
- Working experience with data warehouse and data lake solutions (eg. AWS RedShift, AWS S3)
- Fluent in English
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Apache Kafka and communication in distributed systems
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS
- Experience working with Reactive programming
- Familiarity with integrating sport data providers such as Wyscout, Opta and StatsBomb.
- NoSQL database experience (MongoDB preferred)
- Passionate about sports and game analytics
